Gratitude

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

I am grateful today because I have God and AA in my life. Without those two, I wouldn't have all the other wonderful blessings that I have. I hope that everyone can come up with something they are grateful for today.

Sisters

If sisters were flowers, I'd still pick you. I'd let the sun shine so you'd never be blue. I'd show the world how beautifully you grew, with bright bold colors and strength through and through.

I never had a sister growing up. That is until I was 19. Then I got 3 sisters and a brother but like a blood relative, not by choice. And to tell you the truth, I was not happy. My mother had just died and my father was getting remarried. They were in the process of divorce when she died. Long story.

The years have gone by. Our parents have stayed together. We have raised our children and gone through our own trials and tribulations. Resentments came and resentments went. We are now grandparents. I realize now what a gift God has given us through the years. Too bad we didn't think so then....

Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts. ~Author Unknown

"Unwritten"

I was driving down the road the other day and this song came on. I have heard it many times before and never really listened to the words before. But all of a sudden the words just jumped out at me and I heard them for the first time. Take a listen. They might jump out at you too.

"Unwritten"
Natasha Bedingfield

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin

No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips

The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, yeah, yeah
